Interesting article; but please do not become overly optomistic.

Research suggests children can recover from autism

It would be more accurate that some children can recover from autism. Somewhere between 6 and 25%. The research also indicates that this applies to young children with a higher functioning type of autism. Here are some of the positive predictors:

PDD/NOS diagnosis in lieu of a diagnosis of Autism was a better predictor.
Earlier joint attention also a good predictor
Higher skills in imitation, language and social interest also provided some positive prediction

Good behavioral intervention a positive.
